Using vista os with only one gig of ram how will this effect the use of picoscope. Will it only be noticable in four channel mode or at all times
can more ram be added to resolve any issues. Thank you

One gig should be plenty.  The only reason we suggest that you might need more with Vista is because Vista is a RAM hog.  At least that is what I have heard.  I would go ahead and try it.  Pico is most RAM intensive when maxed out in streaming mode running four channels.

I doubt there would be any problems with PicoScope but, if you had some other applications running with it that were also RAM intensive, things might slow down.

You can always add some more memory later, if needed.  It's not expensive and an easy DIY operation.

I have a 2 channel Pico with Vista and 1 gig Ram.
Pico runs better on my Vista than any computer I have ever owned.
The brilliance of the screen and speed are must have.I believe I would be scared of 2 Gig. :)  haha.

Is anyone using pico diagnostic software with vista os? If so were any problems experienced when loading or using the product.

Just a note that Pico Software will not install if you have a 64bit version of Vista.

I am using Pico with my Dell and I have only run into a streaming problem once when I using Pico and had 6 or seven programs running, Alldata, IE with 4 pages open, etc.  I have 3 gigs of ram and plan on going to 4 in the next month or so.  Minimum for vista is 512 but if you want to get the most from your computer I would suggest going as high as you can.  Another thing to try, with vista you can use a thumb drive of up to 4 gig to boost memory although it is not as fast as internal memory it will give you an idea of what you are missing.  This is more of a computer performance thing not a Pico requirement, Pico runs great on my other HP computer with only one gig.  

Tom, you are correct Vista is a memory hog on a fatboy cruising down the highway!

I'm hoping, I see that Pico software (non-automotive) has PicoScope 6.2.1 Beta 64bit compatible version out in their labs at http://labs.picotech.com/. Hopefully, not long before this goes to release and Automotive follows.

My laptop is 64bit Vista and in order to get Pico installed right now (as well as IDS, etc.), I have to create a VM and install XP 32bit on it.

Here's Pico6 (demo) running in a 32bit XP Pro Virtual Machine on my 64bit Vista Laptop. I'm using VMware Server to create and run the Virtual Machine and bought a used retail version of XP Pro for running inside a Virtual Machine.

XP installs, boots, runs, etc. just like a machine that was running it natively, only it's all inside a Virtual Machine. The Virtual Machine simulates an actual computer and translates everything over to the host OS and the real Hardware so that the Virtual Machine doesn't have to worry about incompatible drivers, etc.

I never updated this, but the latest Picoscope Automotive 6.2.2 support Vista 64 bit as does the latest beta of Pico Diagnostics.

Now if only the OEMs would get on the ball and update their software. ::)

That would depend on the series of Pico scope you use.

It was my experience that I needed more than 1 Gig of ram on my laptop when I started running my 4423 Pico, I upped the ram to 3 Gig and it satisfied my needs.
